Deputy Secretary General, for National Resistance Movement (NRM), Mr Richard Todwong has warned NRM youth against turning the feud between President Yoweri Museveni and former Premier Amama Mbabazi into their fights.
Mr Todwong who was speaking to NRM party members in Gulu town on Monday said the history of the two (Museveni and Mbabazi) share dates way long ago adding that anyone who is taking sides in the matter should be careful.
“Do you know where these two people met, or how they met or even a slightest thing that is going to happen?  You are already taking sides without caution, what will you will do if you find out tomorrow that they have reconciled?”  Todwong asked.
“Today you say you are denouncing this person, the next day you run out to the next person that you are showing your support, please… be careful because at the end, you will end up swallowing a hook,” adds Todwong.
“Mbabazi’s issues is being handled at the top level and the party leadership will dissolve the matter whether they will allow or not for Mbabazi to contest, but this should not make people at the lower levels to poke their nose in it,” said Todwong.
He also lashed at NRM youth under their Umbrella Body National Youth Coalition for NRM Mobilization Uganda who recently mocked Mbabazi by carrying a coffin containing Mbabazi’s posters arguing that it’s a degrading act by party mates.
“You cannot just carry a coffin to demonstrate against Mbabazi yet you are a member of the party, never use your emotions in this case. All we request is that the NRM youth stay should calm until they receive communications on Mbabazi’s fate from higher authorities,” he said.
Mr Mbabazi who was also the Secretary General of NRM was sacked as Prime Minister in October last year, ostensibly because of his presidential ambition.
Religious and cultural leaders within Acholi sub-region recently, advised youth to avoid being used by politicians to promote ideologies that they know little about.
In June this year, the presidential hope full announced his intention to contest in the 2016 general polls against his party Chairman Museveni who is also the NRM flag bearer, a decision that saw him being criticized by NRM party members through demonstrations and mock protests.
Several pro-Mbabazi supporters were also arrested across the country soon after Mbabazi declared his intention to contest in 2016 general polls.
Recently, NRM youth within Gulu staged a mock protest denouncing the candidature of Mbabazi in next year’s polls by carrying a coffin while chanting he (Mbabazi) is politically dead.
The youth alleged that Mbabazi swindled Shs 1.4 billion cash meant for the Peace, Recovery and Development Programme in Northern Uganda.

Who the hell is Todwong tell the Acholi people what they should or should not do? And what exactly did he do to help the community during the rebellion in the North. He may like it or not, every Acholi working with Museveni is and will always be a TRAITOR. I hope he realizes that.
