Contributions/submissions to Acholitimes
Where you are invited to submit any contribution to ATO (including any text, photographs, graphics, video or audio) you agree, by submitting your contribution, to grant ATO a perpetual, royalty-free, non-exclusive, sub-licenseable right and license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from, distribute, perform, play, make available to the public, and exercise all copyright and publicity rights with respect to your contribution worldwide and/or to incorporate your contribution in other works in any media now known or later developed for the full term of any rights that may exist in your contribution. If you do not want to grant to ATO the rights set out above, please do not submit your contribution to this website.
Following through on the paragraph above, you guarantee to ATO that any material you have submitted:
– is your contribution;
– is your own original work and that you have the right to make it available to ATO.
– is not defamatory; and
– does not infringe any law; and you agree to indemnify ATO against all legal fees, damages and other expenses that may be incurred by ATO as a result of your breach of the above warranty; and
– waive any moral rights in your contribution for the purposes of its submission to and publication on ATO and the purposes specified above.
Acholi Times Community Rules
You agree to use ATO communities (including message boards, chat rooms and Acholitimes ezines) in accordance with the following Community Rules. These apply across all Acholitimes community sites and services:
1. Civility
All contributions must be civil. ATO website administration staff reserves the right to remove material deemed to be unfit for the website, without prior notification of its originator. Uncivil and distasteful material shall also include disruptive, offensive or abusive contributions or contributions made with the intention of causing trouble.
2. Lawful content
All content that is unlawful, harassing, defamatory, abusive, threatening, harmful, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, racially offensive or otherwise objectionable material is not acceptable on ATO. Contributing material with the intention of committing or promoting an illegal act is strictly prohibited.
You may not submit any defamatory or illegal material of any nature to any of ATO communities/ezines. This includes text, graphics, video, programs or audio.
You agree to only submit materials which are your own original work. You must not violate, plagiarize, or infringe the rights of third parties including copyright, trade mark, trade secrets, privacy, and publicity, personal or proprietary rights.
- Technical abuse of Acholitimes communities
Such abuse includes but is not limited to multiple logins for the purpose of disrupting any ATO community or annoying other users or the community moderator, as well as spamming (i.e. posting the same thread several times).
- Advertising or marketing positions from Acholitimes’s communities
No advertising or marketing or giving publicity due or undue to a cause without the prior permission of ATO is permitted. Similarly, you may not refer to/make mention of specific URLs (web site addresses) without first receiving the permission of a community moderator or ATO.
5. Mode of communication
Contributions shall be made only in English. All efforts will be made to translate and transcribe Acholi language other than English that are submitted, although this cannot be guaranteed.
- User names (ids)
No inappropriate (e.g. vulgar, offensive etc) user names are allowed especially when signing up for membership on any ATO community. Failure to abide by this rule shall lead to a termination of your membership.
- Use of personal information
Unless expressly necessary, do not submit vital personal information to any of our communities. Such information may include but is not limited to names, physical and postal addresses, bank account/credit card information etc. You shall be duly notified when you are required to provide information that is of a personal name, and this shall be treated with utmost confidentiality.
Conclusion
The views expressed in ATO’s communities/ezines are those of members of the public/users of this website and are not necessarily those of ATO.
Failure to abide by these terms may lead to a suspension from use of a service/services of ATO (where applicable), total discontinuation of a service to a user (where applicable), or prosecution in the courts of law in extreme circumstances.
