Interviews conducted recently by the Gulu District Service Commission (DSC) for various positions were marred by bribery and corruption, Acholi Times has learnt.
The interviews were for Head teachers, deputy head teachers, Municipal Education officer, Population officer, Parish Chiefs and Community Development Officers from the 21st of May and ended on the 1st of June.
According to sources who preferred not to be named, Some candidates were rehearsing interview questions while waiting in line for interviews.
Some people were also shortlisted for the second stage of interviews after failing the first stage which was aptitude test.
The sources said the secretariat had already leaked out interview questions to many candidates at the expense of those who could not pay.
Mr Labongo Geoffrey Lukwiya, the secretary to the District Service Commission who is being implicated denied the allegation saying, “I have not received any information that the examination was leaked to the candidates.”
Other people implicated include the technical team who attended the interviews as the professionals in the various field being advertised.
Mr Makmot Kitara, the chairperson of the District Service Commission confirmed the report and said the interviews will be cancelled adding that all the shortlisted candidates would be re-interviewed.
“I am an old man and I have served the district diligently as the Vice chairperson Under Mr Norbert Mao’s regime. I will not allow these petty things to soil my reputation. Actually we shall take a decision on the staff that will be implicated with evidence” Mr Makmot said.
Gulu district chairman Ojara Martin Mapenduzi also said all the interviews should be cancelled to allow transparency and fairness to all those who applied for the jobs.
