Members of Parliament (MPs) from Acholi sub region have been asked to apologize for not regularly attending sessions in Parliament.
Pastor James Ochan, the deputy Northern Regional overseer of Born Again Pentecostal churches missing parliament when important societal issues are being discussed renders a disservice to the people who elected the MPs.
Pastor Ochan made this remark during a prayer event organized at TAKS Center in Gulu town last week to pray for aspirants in the 2016 general elections.
Kilak County MP Gilbert Olanya and Gulu municipality MP Achire Christopher attended the event.
According to Pastor James Ochan, many Mps including the ones from Northern Uganda were not in parliament when the Anti Gay Bill was being discussed adding that it was thrown out because it lacked quorum.
“You MPs who are here, Achire and Olanya, if you your heart leads you to apologise before the people then you better come forward and ask for forgiveness now,” Pastor Ochan said.
He said God will be very happy for Mps who will repent and tell their people the truth because nullification of the Anti Gay bill angered many people including Christians who are also voters.
Kilak county Member of parliament, Mr Gilbert Olanya immediately apologized before the crowd saying that the Mps have so many errands to run sometimes but they are mobilizing to see that the bill is re-tabled and passed again, this time with big numbers.
