Mr Ojara PP Okin, the former Prime Minister Ker kal kwaro Acholi and now member of Parliament Aspirant for Chwa county in Kitgum district has said known people have approached him to join a new unnamed rebel group.
While addressing a press conference from Bomah Hotel in Kitgum district on Friday evening, Okin said that he got an anonymous call on the 9th /7/2015 last Thursday where the caller talked about a new rebel group and urged him to support the rebel group.
He said this incident has put his life and that of his family at risk because he still does not know the intention of the people involved.
Okin added that he did not call the person back but immediately wrote to Inspector General of Police Kale Kahihura, Regional Police Commander North, copied Kitgum Resident District Commissioner, Minster of Internal Affairs ,Aronda Nyakairima about the phone call and asked them to establish the people involved and bring them to book.
Okin who declined to disclose the phone number to the media also said other people were calling his campaign managers in the different sub counties and asking them to join the new rebel group.
He said he is waiting for the security report on the existence of the rebel group and urged that if the move is just fabricated by someone to knock him down in his political career.
“I want to appeal to all the Acholi people that if this issue is true then we have to condemn it in the strongest term. We have been in conflict and have seen the mayhem of war. The people of Kitgum should know that if this thing is done to bring me down then we have to unite and see that the culprits are brought to book,” Okin said.
The case was registered at Aswa River regional Police headquarters in Gulu under File number GEF/24/2015 as threatening the life of Mr Okin PP Ojara and campaign team on the 14/7/2015.
