Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party is in a frantic search for a candidate for the new Tochi County in Gulu district.
FDC is likely to fail to front an aspirant for the new County after Mr Simon Toolit Akecha was cut out in the old Omoro County.
The favorite was Mr Kenneth Nyeko, the current LCV Councilor for Ongako Sub County who was elected on an FDC ticket during the 2011 General Elections.
However in May this year, Nyeko fell out with the FDC District Party Officials after he and four other Councilors met President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni at 4thDivision Infantry Headquarters in Gulu.
Akecha who is now the Gulu District Chairperson for FDC party after succeeding Martin Ojara Mapenduzi says as a party, they are yet to identify a suitable candidate for Tochi County.
Akecha admitted that they are finding a challenge in zeroing on one person to front.
He noted that though it is good news that their dream of splitting Omoro has come true, FDC will have to dig deep in order to get a suitable candidate.
However, he expressed confidence that the matter will be resolved.
Already Mr Francis Obutu, a National Resistance Movement (NRM) leaning candidate has declared his intention to run on the ruling party ticket in the 2016 election.
He said his leadership will be people centered unlike other leaders whose only interest is to exploit people for selfish political agenda.
Obutu said, “I will draft my manifesto together with the local people since I am their messenger.”
Tochi was among the 65 new constituencies that were approved by Parliament on Tuesday.
Tochi has three sub counties of Koro, Ongako and Bobi while the original Omoro Cpunty has remained with Lalogi, Lakwana and Odek sub counties.
