Former Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Party President, Rtd Col Kizza Besigye has scoffed at youth in the country that are joining President Yoweri Museveni’s National Resistance Movement (NRM) saying the youth are blind and not noticing that many big shots are already jumping out of ‘movement bus’.
“I pity these young people I see now parading that they are looking for votes Mr Museveni and joining his camp. How can you be entering NRM bus when big shot like Mr Amama Mbabazi is jumping out?” says Col Besigye.
What is wrong with them, are they just blind not to see that Mr Museveni’s rules are now not being liked by comrades around him; even Gen David Sejusa has fallen out with him but this blind youth still move on to say they are NRM, adds Col Besigye.
“What sort of wisdom is that with the youth who are entering the movement bus, yet many others are coming out…, even the foreigners are tired. Haven’t you heard of US President Barack Obama’s speech lashing out at African tyrants like Museveni?
When Museveni was assuming power, Obama was just 25 years old, he became President and now he is leaving but Museveni is still jogging for more?”
Col Besigye who was addressing a rally on Wednesday at Atiak Sub County in Amuru district as part of his campaign ahead of the 2nd September FDC delegate’s primary election for the party flag bearer said the NRM has already been weakened and doesn’t deserve the services of youth.
He added that youth should pick up the courage to confront the government but not to be crawling under Mr Museveni arguing their courage will liberate the country and prevent them from losing their land.
“If you are not courageous and all the time keeps on clapping for Mr Museveni who is your ‘servant’, what else will he do, he won’t mind of your situation, but if you regain confidence and confront him, he will be on pressure,” says Col Besigye.
He challenged the youth that the wealth Mr Museveni is boasting of and dishing to them is not his money but rather tax payers money adding that the country must rise to denounce the corrupt regime of the president.
“In 1986 when we were entering Kampala, to take over Power, Mr Museveni had nothing, he had only a shirt and Trouser plus his boots. Today what we hear is totally bizarre because he has turned Ugandan wealth like oil into his personal resources,” says Col Besigye.
Meanwhile, Col Besigye asked FDC delegates in Amuru district to vote him as party Presidential flag bearer to counter the vote rigging in the coming election and consequently lead the nation away from dictatorship regime.
NRM Deputy Spokesperson, Mr Ofwono Opondo when contacted on Thursday
however said Besigye should be ready to challenge NRM in the coming election if he says the party is weak.
“Elections are just five months away; we shall see him there,” says Mr Opondo.
Mr Hassan Kaps Fungaroo, Obongi County MP in Moyo district who accompanied Col Besigye advised Amuru people to turn away from the dictatorship regime of NRM and join the opposition FDC bandwagon.
Col Besigye and the FDC party President Gen Mugisha Muntu are currently traversing the country canvassing for votes a head of the September 2nd FDC delegates election for party flag bearer in next year’s general election.
