A new organisation has been founded to promote peace and development in the Acholi sub region. Former Chua county member of parliament, Livingstone Okello- Okello, is interim Chair of the organisation named Wang-OO Pa Acholi.

In a communication sent out to different stakeholders, Okello- Okello said Wang OO Pa Acholi was formed as a consequence of economic under development of the Acholi people.

‘‘Wang‐OO Pa Acholi is a new initiative by a group of Acholi people concerned about our plight as a people who have perennially suffered consequences of economic underdevelopment and absence of social transformation,’’ Okello-Okello wrote in a letter dated October 29,2015.

In the same letter, the former Chua Member of Parliament invited stakeholders from the Acholi region for the organisation’s inaugural meeting scheduled for November 7 at Kiwatule Recreation Centre in Kampala.

‘‘Wang‐OO Pa Acholi, therefore, aims at setting the foundation that will foster unity, and cause real positive socio‐economic, political and cultural change,’’ the letter partly read.

Prominent persons slated to attend the event are Democratic Party President Norbert Mao who will give a keynote address, former Agago Member of Parliament and leader of Opposition, Ogenga- Latigo, retired Kitgum Anglican Bishop MacLeod Ochola, among others.

It is not yet known who the founders of the new organisation are, but in his letter, Okello- Okello said the organisation will be self- sustaining and will be  ‘‘managed and owned by the people of Acholiland’’ to foster development, peace, trade and transformation of the region.
