Deputy Speaker of parliament Jacob Oulanyah. His and NRM clashed with FDC supporters on Tuesday afternoon over the revenue for his and Besigye’s rally. Besigye is campaigning in Gulu

There was chaos on Tuesday afternoon at Aketket Primary School, Lalogi Sub County in Gulu district involving the supporters of the Deputy Speaker of Parliament Jacob Oulanyah and FDC’s Presidential Candidate Dr Kizza Besigye.

Trouble started when Besigye and his team including Gulu Woman MP Betty Aol Ocan reached the venue of the campaign rally only to find Deputy Speaker Oulanyah already addressing his supporters.

Report indicate that the head of Oulanyah’s bodyguard identified only as Nuwagaba instructed the other guards to chase away Betty Aol from the venue.

This sparked off a fight leading to violence clashes.

By the time of filing this report we could not get a comment from Aol since her phone was off neither could we get in touch with Oulanyah.

It was also not year at the time of publishing this story whether there were injuries as a result of the scuffle.

Journalists including NTV reporter Francis Jjingo and his cameraman one, Ronald were attacked and some of  their equipment confiscated.

Jjingo told Mega FM that the supporters of Oulanyah tried to grab their camera as they beat up journalists who were covering Besigye. Besigye was forced to hold his rally some 500 meters away from the proposed venue. Oulanyah, according to  unconfirmed reports, fled the scene after clashes broke out.
