The arson targeted the home of Denis Okema a jilted lover who early this week torched a house in which his wife was sleeping killing two of their biological children and two relatives. The wife, Beatrice Akello, escaped with injuries and was admitted at Lacor hospital.

Denis Okema is under police custody in Nwoya. Police has said he will be charged with aggravated murder.

On Monday night, Akello’s relatives are suspected to have set on fire more than 10 huts belonging to Okema’s family.

John Bosco Okullo, the LCIII chairman of Koch Goma Sub County   said t the 11 hurts were torched  around 7 pm on Monday before the police intervene by firing bullets in the air.

”I got reports that about the six people at the suspect’s [Denis Okema’s] home destroying property. I informed police who responded,’’ said Okullo.

When contacted, Jimmy Patrick Okema, the Aswa region police spokesman confirmed the incident saying investigations are being carried out on the property damaged.

By Press time no suspect had yet been arrested by the police in relation to the arson case.
