Corner Kilak health centre III has received six beds and mattresses from UPDF 5th division in Acholpii in Pader district.

The beds are meant for the maternity ward in the health centre.

Corner Kilak health centre III in charge, Jacklyn Akello said last week that beds and mattresses will aid expectant mothers in safe delivery.

Corner Kilak health centre III in Pader Sub County, Pader district has been operating without any beds in the maternity ward for over 10 years.

Akello says this had made the health facility unattractive to pregnant mothers who preferred delivering at home.”

“The people in Pader Sub County will now be able to enjoy better service delivery with the new beds,” Akello said.

Col Stephano Mugerwa, from the UPDF’s 5th Division said the donations are an initiative by the army to give back to communities in Pader Sub County and Corner Kilak health centre III, to thank them for their support to the UPDF during the insurgency in northern Uganda.

The 5th division covers 8 districts in Lango sub region, 4 in Acholi and 3 in Karamoja sub region.

Pader Sub County LC III chairman, Robert Oweka praised the UPDF for the support to the community.

While handing over the beds to the hospital management at Corner Kilak health centre III last week, the Member of Parliament representing the army, Capt. Susan Lakot applauded the community for having a good relationship with the UPDF.
