    Nwoya Police Recovers Stolen Car From Armed Robbers

    Police in Nwoya district yesterday recovered a stolen car from armed robbers in a shootout with the thugs in Murchison Falls National Park.

    The Toyota Ipsum registration number UAX376M was recovered at 4 am after police overpowered the thugs.

    Nwoya district police commander, Dan Okello told Acholi Times that the vehicle hard been robbed from Kampala on Feb 22, 2016. A case of the theft of the car was reported to Katwe police station under SD 02/23/02/2016.

    Okello said police engaged the thugs who were three in number and recovered two sub machine guns which the robbers abandoned in the vehicle after police punctured one of the front tires of the car.

    “We were involved in a shootout [with the robbers]. Our patrol car got damages from their bullets,’’ Okello said.

    In the last one month, police in Nwoya has recovered four stolen vehicles along the Karuma-Arua highway.
