Police in Koch Goma Sub County in Nwoya district has arrested two polling assistants for alleged involvement in vote rigging.

The two polling assistants have been identified by police as Sunday Arop Ochora and Daniel Opiyo. The two electoral officials were allegedly found with pre-ticked ballots in favour of Armstrong Ochora David, a contestant for Councilor III for Kal parish.

One of the suspects, Sunday Arop Ochora, is the son of the candidate for Councilor 111, Armstrong Ochora David.

ASP Loum John, the police officer coordinating the election in Koch Goma Sub County confirmed the arrest of the two and said they are being held at Koch Goma police post.

“We are currently working on the files of the culprits so that they can be taken to court, “Loum said.

Meanwhile there has generally been a low voter turnout for the Sub County LCIII and their councilors.

By 10:40 am only 79 had cast their votes in Anaka district head quarter out of 863 registered voters, according Okello Banya, the presiding officer.
