A Uganda police chopper on Wednesday afternoon left many Gulu residents excited after it landed at Bomah Grounds just next to Acholi Inn hotel, only a stone’s throw away from the office of the Gulu Resident District Commissioner.
A crowd of children, adults and Boda- Boda riders rushed to have a look at the chopper painted blue and white which began refueling as soon as it landed.
The fuel—in a drum and loaded on a police pick- truck had been delivered to Bomah Grounds shortly after the helicopter landed.
The sight of the chopper fueling led to speculations that it could have made an emergency landing after running low on fuel.
But the Minister for Disaster Preparedness, Eng Hillary Onek said the chopper had been sent by President Museveni to pick him for an urgent meeting at State House in Entebbe.
The chopper spent about half an hour at Bomah Grounds before flying away.
