Simon Toolit Akecha. He is alleged to have been abducted today morning at 3am. His case is up in court this morning where the Electoral Comission Gulu Returing Officer is supposed to be cross- examined by his lawyers

Former Omoro parliamentary candidate Simon Toolit Akecha has allegedly been abducted, according to an unnamed son.

Mr Akecha was abducted at around 3 am this morning from his home by four men, two of them armed,  according to the son.

” We are here at his[Toolit’s] home. He is not there. We are told he was abducted by armed men,” Moses Abonga, the Gulu Municipality Forum for Democratic Party Chairman(FDC) told Acholi Times.

Police has cordoned off  the home of the  former Omoro parliamentary candidate in Pece  Division in Gulu town and is not allowing anyone in,  an Acholi Times reporter at the scene, reports.

Toolit, a Forum for Democratic Party (FDC) member is challenging the election of  deputy speaker of parliament Jacob Oulanyah.

On Monday, Gulu High Court Judge, Justice David Matovu ordered electoral commissioner lawyer Peter Mulongo to present before the court this morning the Electoral Commission’s(EC) Gulu’s Returning Officer,  Benson Obete.

It is unclear what will happen in court this morning with reports that Toolit has been abducted.

Acholi Times will keep you posted on this developing story.
