The new Lamwo district Chairman Komakech John Ogwok has issued a stern warning to civil servants in the district to either keep time of reporting to office or vacate.
Ogwok sounded the warning during a ceremony to launch a report on ‘‘Piloting the Protection of Rights to Customary Land Ownership’’ which was held in Bomah Hotel in Gulu last week.
The chairman vowed to tackle late coming by civil servants in the district, a vice he says hampers service delivery.
He said most civil servants report to office as late as 10:00am yet work begins at 8:00am.
“Since I came to office last week I have noticed that people come to work as late as 10:00am in the morning,” Ogwok said adding that “this will have to stop or I will be forced to take drastic measures against such officers, they either shape up or leave”.
The chairman pledged to work with communities in Lamwo to ensure transformation of the way service is delivered to them and to increase household income.
Ogwok promised to ensure government programs like operation wealth creation, NUSAF III and PRDP III reach its intended beneficiaries and warned that anyone including civil servants or politicians who will not work against that objective will face his wrath.
Ogwok was elected district chairman of Lamwo on the Forum for Democratic (FDC) ticket. He is also a former district Chairman for Kitgum district (2006-2011).
