A Gulu priest has described the Inspector General of Police Gen Kale Kayihura as ‘‘demon possessed.’’
Fr Eric Uma, the Parish Priest of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Gulu town told over 1000 believers on Sunday that Gen Kayihura is possessed by demons which the priest said is responsible for his[Kayhura’s] ”heartlessly” violating the human rights and dignity of Ugandans.
Fr Uma condemned the police for using sticks to beat up people in Kampala last week when former presidential candidate Dr Kiiza Besigye was granted bail after spending two months in Luzira Maximum Security Prison. Besigye was charged with treason after declaring himself winner of February’s presidential elections.
‘’ I condemn the action of the police, even an animal cannot be treated that way. Where is the country heading? The head of police is satanic, he does not have a human soul,’’ Fr Uma told his congregation.
Fr Uma asaid Gen Kayihura does not deserve to be head of police and should be removed from the job.
Police spokesman Fred Enanga did not pick out repeated calls for comment.
Fr Uma, renowned for his vocal preaching also took a swipe at leaders in the country who he said only care about money and not their people. As a case in point, he cited reports last week which said NRM district Chairpersons from around the country had resolved that the constitution age limit of 75 years should be removed to allow Museveni contest for the presidency again in 2021. Museveni, 71, will be ineligible to contest for President unless the constitution aged limit of 75 is amended
‘‘The elected leaders do not talk about things that develop the country but only about salary increment. This is so embarrassing and against God`s will.’’
