Aswa region police Spokesman Jimmy Patrick Okema said he had not received information of the attack when contacted by Acholi Times

A 65-year-old woman from Lamin Onami village, Lalogi Sub County in Omoro district has succumbed to injuries sustained after an alleged machete attack by stepson.

Lina Adiko died from Lalogi Health Centre IV on Tuesday afternoon where she was rushed for treatment after the alleged attack by her stepson, Jimmy Acaye.

Adiko was carrying a bundle of firewood as she left her garden at around noon when Acaye allegedly struck.

Francis Okot, the deceased’s grandsons says they found the old woman lying helplessly in a pool of blood along the village path leading to her home.

According to Okot, Adiko’s head was cut six times before her attacker fled the scene.

Okot says he suspects the attack on Adiko was due to a long running land wrangle with Acaye.

Acaye is reported to be in hiding and police is hunting for him.

The area LCIII Chairperson Everest Okwonga confirmed the incident and said nine huts belonging to the family of Acaye was torched in a suspected revenge attack.

Police rushed to the scene and rescued the elder brother of Acaye whom the family of Adiko were reportedly planning to lynch.

The unidentified brother of the murder suspect is now being held at Lalogi police post.

When contacted Aswa region police spokesman said he had not received information about the incident.
