Three patients who were admitted and undergoing treatment for cholera at St Mary’s Hospital Lacor have been discharged from the health facility.
All the three were from Elegu—in Amuru district—at the Uganda, South Sudan border.
The patients included a 14 year old boy, a 27 year old woman and her five year old child.
The trio were admitted at Lacor’s isolation unit last week after exhibiting signs of cholera.
Dr Emmanuel Ochola, the head of department research and documentation at Lacor said all the patients had tested positive with cholera.
Dr Ochola told Acholi Times today that all the patients had been treated and were no longer in danger.
The discharging of the patients means the spread of the disease has been effectively contained.
Ochola said the three patients were discharged on Thursday and Friday last week.
