A 56 year old man in Agago district on Saturday allegedly hacked his crippled wife to death before handing himself to police.

Ben Opiyo Anuku is reported to have hacked to death Aidah Aciro, 35, and handed himself to police in Patongo.

Agago LC5 Chairman Leonard Ojok said Ben Opiyo Anuku had just returned from an outing with his wife on Friday night, when he picked an axe and hit her at the back of the head, killing her instantly.

According to Mr Ojok, the suspect has a history of violence.

“Two of his wives left because of his violence. The deceased had just returned from her parents’ home, after having a misunderstanding with him,” Ojok said.

The suspect, a father of three and resident of Munutam village in Omia Pacwa Sub County, immediately handed himself to Patongo police station for fear of being killed by a mob.

Agago District Police Commander Mr Albert Onyango, confirmed the incidence to Acholi times on Sunday. He counseled the couples to choose dialogue over violence to settle disagreements.
