Jimmy Patrick Okema, the Aswa region police spokesman confirmed the death resulting from the accident

A local trader  of secondhand clothes at Gulu Main Market has died from injuries sustained during an accident on Saturday along the Gulu- Moroto road.

Bosco Francis Okullu died while he was being rushed to Gulu Regional Referral Hospital for medical attention.

Jimmy Patrick Okema, the Aswa Region Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) says at least 29 other vendors who were travelling in the Isuzu Lorry Reg. No. UAZ 141 A sustained injuries.

Okema says the ill-fated lorry was travelling from Awere Trading Center to Gulu town when the driver lost control of the vehicle.

According to Okema, by the time of the accident, the unidentified driver was trying to dodge a pothole before losing control of the lorry.

Police blamed the driver for over-speeding, a factor which contributed to accident.

By press time, the driver was still on the run.

Meanwhile by 2 pm on Monday, the body of Okullu who hails from Oyam district was still lying at Gulu Hospital morgue as none of the deceased’s relatives had claimed it.

In October last year, seven vendors from Gulu town were killed after the overloaded vehicle they were travelling in from Gulu to Purongo in Nwoya district for a market day overturned.
