Gulu resident High Court Justice Vincent Okwanga last week handed a 27-year-old farmer a 10-year- jail term for defiling a minor suffering from a mental health condition.
Prosecution led by Patrick Adoko told court that March 4, 2013 from Lunik village in Alero Sub County, Nwoya district Francis Okello alias Ocii defiled the minor.
The judge said the 10 years will serve as a deterrent to those who target young girls with intention to sexually abuse them.
Earlier in the hearing of the case Adoko denied the accusations against him but a state witnesses pinned him, telling court that Adoko had sexually abused the under aged girl.
Of the 40 cases listed for trial at the Gulu High Court criminal session, 13 of them are sexual offenses against underage girls and one involving a 10- year old boy.
