    Amuru district Chairman Micheal Lakony

The office of the Prime Minister on Tuesday made a donation of 50,000 kilograms of maize flour and 5,000 kilograms of beans to residents of Apaa displaced by renewed violence over a border dispute between Amuru and Adjumani districts.

Michael Lakony the Amuru district chairperson said the food request was made by leaders in the district leaders.

Mr Lakony estimates that more than 5,000 people including children and women were displaced from Labala parish to Appa trading centre.

The Amuru Chairman said the food distribution will begin today, Wednesday.

Christopher Odongkara, the Pabbo sub county chairperson told Acholi Times that the food consignment was parked in a store in Apaa trading centre awaiting distribution.

Odongkara said the leadership in Pabbo Sub County where Apaa is found are also expecting

Temporary shelter and bedding materials from the prime minister office. He said this could come in next week.

The relief food came in shortly after the Prime Minister Dr Ruhakana Rugunda visited Rugunda Gulu and Amuru on what he termed a ‘‘fact-finding’’ mission. The Prime Minister held meetings with the political, religious and cultural leaders in Acholi.

Violence broke out on Monday last week and escalated on Wednesday of the same between residents of Amuru on one side and Adjumani on the other. Amuru is occupied by the predominantly the Acholi tribe while Adjumani is predominantly Madi.

In 2015 surveyors protected by UPDF soldiers planted markstones on the disputed land indicating that Apaa is in Adjumani. This left Amuru residents dissatisfied. The dispute over the location of Apaa has been on and off since 2012.

We remember CAMP life and NODDING DISEASE. Mr PM remember that if you approve this expulsion, then the Banyoro should rightfully kick out your baffuriki squatter brothers from Kigezi now settled illegally in Kibale in Bunyoro without the King’s (His Highness the Omukama) approval. You need police presence to protect life.
