Police say they have recovered a body, bringing to nine the number of deaths from the deadly clash between Acholi and Madi over the disputed land boundary between Amuru and Adjumani district in Apaa parish.
Police has identified the latest victim as George Olingkene, aged 55.
Eight bodies were recovered earlier on in the aftermath of the clash.
Jimmy Patrick Okema, the Aswa Region Police Spokesperson said on Monday that Olingkene’s body was found in Lulai village, Apaa parish, Itirikoa Sub County in Adjumani district
According to police, the body was found on Monday morning during a search by Police and the local community. Three people are still missing, police said.
Besides Olingkene, others who died during the Apaa clash are: Bosco Oringa, Tonny Okello, Bosco Oringa Okwera, David Ojok, Maurensio Kinyera Galdino, Isaac Otto Okori, and Saidi Nyeko Openy, all are local farmers from Amuru district.
Sitwell Loum Ibedo Kilaneki, Local Council I Chairperson for Apaa Lower village said nine more people are still missing three weeks after the attack.
Meanwhile dozens of survivors of the deadly tribal clash are demanding for psychosocial support saying they are distressed.
They say following attacks by a group armed with bow and arrow and machetes, that left six men dead and dozens critically injured, they are having sleepless nights due overwhelming fear.
Grace Akiyo, aged 31 and survivor of the attack says seeing the mutilated body of her husband, has left her devastated.
Akiyo’s husband, David Ojok head was crushed by the suspected attacker.
The 36-year-old farmer is one of the six local farmers from Amuru district who were killed during the last Wednesday’s violence.
Akiyo says the pictures of her husband keeps coming whenever it turns dark and it has failed to go away despite burying him on Friday last week.
She described the images as disturbing since it has made it very difficult for her to concentrate and get over the calamity that befell her and the nine children left behind by her deceased husband.
Another survivor, David Olango, who lost a brother, says the attack left majority of the family with deep scar of trauma.
Anthony Akol, the area Member of Parliament (MP) for Kilak North County in Amuru district who visited some of the families who lost their loved ones on Tuesday compared the violent attack to that that were carried out by members LRA rebel group.
The legislator asked non-governmental organizations in northern Uganda that offer psychosocial services to come to the rescue of the survivors.
Apaa, a remote area found between Amuru and Adjumani district is a hotbed of violence as government and local communities fight over the ownership of 40 square miles of land.
While the residents claim that the land is in Amuru, the government on the other hand says the land is part of Adjumani district.
At least 470 households have been affected by the bitter boundaries disputes that started way back in 2012.

Finally the Acholi as a people have known the deep seated animosity from those who have now shown their true colours. No one can deceive us that this has not been a planned move that was well calculated. Who ever is spilling the innocent blood of our people should know that with time justice will prevail. It is sad that the leadership in Madi can not see the need for a peaceful co-existence so as boost development. What goes round will surely come round and when that moment comes no one should complain because we have seen it all happening in broad daylight. We saw it all during Iddi Amin’s era butchering innocent people. We Acholis have always been forgiving and we thought we had now put our past behind. They say an elephant will never rot in a day. Now it is time for the aggressors and tormentors to rejoice when our people are being shot with poisonous arrows. We commit our people in Gods hands because Madi have the backing of the state and a powerful army General. But rest assured Alunya loyo Lakwong. Only time will tell what ever you do you will never finish Acholi as a race and creation from God.
