Gulu Grade One Magistrate’s Court presided by Yunus Ndiwalana has further remanded seven suspects charged with the murder of John Oola Omona, the former Deputy Town Clerk, Gulu Municipal Council.
The six men and a woman appeared before the Grade One Magistrate’s Court on Thursday last week before they were further remanded after the government lawyer informed court that investigation on the case is still ongoing.
Magistrate Ndiwalana had no option but remand the suspects until August 21 when they will reappear before court.
Initially only three men were charged with the killing of Oola.
However the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) amended the charge that saw three more suspected included into the charge sheet.
The first suspects were Denis Otim (32), Martin Akena (20) and George Oryem. However in June, police arrested Emmanuel Komakech (23), Denis Uhuru (25), Francis Okello (33) and Sharon Akello (22) in connection with the murder.
Prosecution contends that on June 22, 2017 at Kanyagoga ‘B’ in Kanyagoga parish in Bar-Dege division, Gulu Municipality, there seven murder John Oola Omona.
Police has however declined to give the motive of the murder reasoning that it will jeopardize ongoing investigations on the murder.
