    18 Huts Torched in Amuru in Revenge Attack

    At least 18 grass- thatched huts were burnt down in Andara village, Pabbo Sub County in Amuru District in a revenge attack after a 24-year-old woman allegedly killed her father-in-law for attempting to rape her.

    The attackers also killed 19 goats and burned down 151 bags unthreshed rice.

    It is alleged that members of the young woman’s clan, Pakedo, went raided the homes of Paboro clan in the wee hours of Monday morning following the killing of 55-year-old Oyet Daktar. Oyet reported died from St Mary’s Hospital Lacor after he was allegedly by his daughter-in-law after he attempted to rape her. The incident happened on November 6, 2020.

    Shortly after Oyet succumbed to his injuries on November 6, his kinsmen went on rampage and destroyed property valued at millions of shillings.

    According to police, the attackers were armed with bows and arrows and spears.

    Emmanuel Bwambale, the District Police Commander (DPC) Amuru said investigations into the incident are on-going. The DPC adds that no single suspect has been arrested in connection to the revenge attack.
