The embattled Member of Parliament (MP) for Aruu County in Pader District Samuel Odonga- Otto has been granted bail.

Odonga-Otto was granted non cash bail of 500,000 Shillings by Gulu Grade One Magistrate Christine Turibamwe, on Tuesday afternoon.

Odonga- Otto was represented in court by Charles Dalton Opwonya of Dalton Opwonya & Company Advocates and his wife Juliet Oyulu Otto.

The lawyers presented three sureties who were each bonded at One Million Shillings non-cash.They were the Kilak South County MP Gilbert Olanya, Pader District Woman MP Christine Doreen Oketayot Lowila and John Bosco Komakech Aludi, the Executive Director, Caritas Gulu.

The legislator is expected to re-appear before the same Court on April 28, 2021.

He is battling charges of assault in relation to the alleged attack on a local radio journalist in Gulu in 2019.

Odonga-Otto allegedly attacked Geoffrey Ojok Okot during a football match at Pece Stadium in Gulu City. He, however denied the charges.

Otto’s release came hours after court in Pader District where he had been charged with two counts of causing bodily harm and malicious damage to property, granted him bail.
