Police in Gulu are holding one of their own over a missing gun.
Constable Peter Akena, No. 52954, a bodyguard to Gulu LCV Chairman, Martin Ojara Mapenduzi was arrested on Monday evening after he went to report a case of a missing police gun.
Akena is attached to Gulu Central Police Station.
He is currently being detained at Gulu Central Police Station to help police detectives with investigations on how the police gun went missing.
According to police preliminary investigations report, the gun Registration Number UG POL 84MA1790- 22655, went missing on March 29, 2021 from Goans Quarters sub-ward, an outskirt of Gulu City.
The case has been registered at Gulu Central Police Station vide CRB 302/2021.
Patrick Jimmy Okema, the Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson said the suspect will be charged with gun theft and neglect of duty.
