At least 266 people were murdered in Acholi sub region in 2020, according to the latest police annual crime report.
The figure is the third highest in the country.
Greater Masaka registered highest cases of murder in the country with 366 people being killed in 2020.
Others are Rwizi (325), Albertine (316) and Kigezi (246).
Police investigations linked the killings to land wrangles, crime of passions, business rivalry, family misunderstanding and mob justice among others.
Meanwhile Gulu registered highest cases of murder in the country in 2020.
According to the 2020 police annual crime report, 206 people died as a result of assault while another 28 were strangled to death.
In total, 1,362 people died because of assault, of whom, 1,104 were males and 258 were females
During the same period, 436 people were killed by strangulation.
