President Yoweri Museveni on Friday told a rally in Pabbo Sub County in Amuru district that he will create wealth and improve the education standards in the district and northern Uganda as a whole if elected president.

Museveni, also the National Resistance Movement Chairperson had just completed four days of campaigns in West Nile before holding his first campaign in the Acholi sub region on Friday morning in Pabbo primary school.

In his address, Mr Museveni heaped praises on his government for the economic and infrastructural development in Amuru.

“I don’t need to preach about the changes the NRM government has brought in the region, my government has built a good road network, brought in Electricity in the region. You people of Amuru should be preaching this on my behalf,” Museveni said.

He however noted that despite the infrastructural development NRM government has brought in Amuru, his government is still committed in ensuring that household income is improved through operation wealth creation where free seedlings will be provided for farmers.

“There is one thing I want to share with you people of Amuru; I have always admired accumulating wealth before development. I reared cattle in my ranch in Rwakitura where there were no roads, but I wasn’t bothered, but by the time the roads came to my place I was rich.”

Mr Museveni pledged that once the people in the region elect him in office in 2016, his government will ensure that free seedlings are provide for the locals to boost agriculture, secondary schools built in each sub-county and young girls given free sanitary pads.

“Pabbo is a big sub-county, it deserves  secondary schools , I am also looking at training youth who have degrees but have failed to secure jobs. My government shall put them into another phase of trainings so that they can be able to get employment opportunities,” said the NRM candidate.

The five time presidential candidate also promised to pay veterans in the region adding that the government has already earmarked Shs 70 billion in the next financial year for paying veterans across the country

At Lamogi Sub-county where he had his second rally, the President tackled the controversial Apaa land question. He said it is possible for the communities in Amuru and Adjumani to co-exist without any problems saying there are many areas in the country in similar situations as Amuru and Adjumani but the communities involved are living peacefully.

The president wound up his rally late Friday evening at Anaka town council in Nwoya district, where he said he is interested in turning the district into an industrial hub given the fact that the land supports agriculture.

Mr Museveni also asked the locals to offer for him 10 sq miles of land where he can put up a manufacturing industry.

Samuel Amone, a youth from Amuru lauded Museveni’s initiatives in bringing projects that can transform the youth citing the ‘‘Livelihood projects’’ that has benefited youth in the region.

He however said the programmes where poorly managed and tasked the government to make follow ups to ensure the projects benefits the intended beneficiaries.

The President who is  in the Acholi sub-region will be addressing three rallies in Gulu district today(Saturday) before heading to Pader and Kitgum districts.
