Nwoya district chairman Patrick Okello Oryema has refuted rumours that he has defected to the ruling NRM party.

Speaking on Tuesday during the 30th NRM Anniversary celebration in Koch Goma Sub County, Oryema said ideological differences should not make leaders from the opposition  not shun working in partnership with government because its the local communities that suffer the most.

Oryema who is running on an independent ticket is sympathetic to the Forum for Democratic Change.

The Nwoya Chairman attributed the development in the district to his putting aside what he called political differences  with government for the sake of public services in the district.

“I will continue to recognize the government for the job well done for the benefit of the local people in my district,”  he said.
