    Chinese National Dies after Road Accident

    Aswa region police spokesman Jimmy Patrick Okema confirmed the death of the Chinese national

    A 50-year-old Chinese national has succumbed to his injuries after he was knocked by a car for a road construction company he works for.

    Police say Wan An Ding was rushed to St Joseph’s Hospital in Kitgum after he was injured in an accident by a double pick up cabin Reg. No UAA 692 X. The pickup belongs to Chico, a Chinese road construction company that the late Ding worked for.

    Ding died from injuries in the accident sustained on Saturday, according to Aswa region police spokesman, Jimmy Patrick Okema.

    Okema told journalists in Gulu on Monday that the driver of the pickup truck identified only as Kamara ramped into Din at around 8am at a construction site along Madi Opei- Lamwo road which is currently undergoing constructing by Chico.

    The body of the Chinese national was transported to Kampala yesterday awaiting being flown back to China.

    Meanwhile Kamara has been released on a police bond pending further investigations in the accident.

    In another road accident, a 38-year-old boda boda operator identified as Richard Okello was on Friday last week knocked dead by a speeding car along the Gulu- Kampala Highway.

    Okello who was riding motorbike Reg. No. UDY 447 M was knocked by a speeding super custom van Reg. No UAR 288C. Police say the driver who of the speeding car is on the run.

    Both the motorbike and the vehicle are parked at Gulu Central Police Station.

    At least ten people have been killed in Acholi sub region in motor accident in the last two months alone.
