    The Deputy Speaker of parliament Jacob Oulanyah who was last week controversially declared winner of the Omoro County parliamentary seat has denied offering President Museveni a chunk of land in his constituency.

    A letter dated October 12, 2015– purported to have been written by Oulanyah—states that a survey and mapping of 13, 750 hectares of land at Awali Wanglobo, Lamola parish in Odek Sub County had been completed.

    The letter further indicates that markstones on the boundaries of the land have already been planted on the land and a total of Sh 24.3 billion will be needed to compensate 48 families on the land.

    The letter does not indicate who will be owner of the land once the current occupants are asked to leave.

    According to the letter, Oulanyah is said to have advised the President to hold on the process of compensation until after the elections for the issue not to turn political.

    ‘‘The exercise can be done immediately after the general elections,’’ the letter partly read.

    However Ben Acellam, the Chief Political Campaigner for Oulanyah says the document is a forgery by people he described as enemies of the Deputy Speaker;

    Addressing the press at  the Northern Uganda Media office in Gulu town on Tuesday, Acellam claimed that the intention of the letter is solely to discredit the good work of the Deputy Speaker.

    Acellam alleged that a section of politicians in Acholi want to see the downfall of Oulanyah after rising to the level of a Deputy Speaker, an influential position in the country.

    Acellam threatened that Oulanyah will take legal action against the author(s) of the letter.
