    Acholi Leaders Meet To Discuss Unity

    A two- day meeting of Acholi political, cultural, religious and opinion leaders is expected to open this morning at St Monica Tailoring School in Gulu town. At the time of filing this report, the meeting had not yet began.

    The event is organised by Wang-OO  and aims at  promoting Acholi unity, a statement by the organisers said.

    Wang-OO is an organization formed to foster unity among the Acholi people, promote socio-economic progress and Acholi culture. The organization’s Interim Chair is former Chua Member of Parliament, Livingstone Okello-Okello. Wang-OO had its inaugural meeting on 7, November, 2015.

    The meeting is convened  by His Highness, David Onen Acana II, Arch Bishop John Baptist Odama and Democratic Party (DP) President, Norbert Mao.

    The two day meeting is expected to have representatives of the seven districts of the Acholi sub region.

    According to the programme seen by Acholi Times, prominent among the Acholi leaders expected to be at the meeting are outgoing Uganda Peoples President Dr Olara Otunnu, DP President Nortbert Mao, retired Anglican Kitgum Bishop Bishop McLeod Baker Ochola, Public Service Commission Chairman, Ralph Ocan, Justice Owiny Dollo, the Speaker of the East African Parliament, Dan Kidega, Prof Ogenga- Latigo, among a host of other prominent Acholi political, cultural, academic and civil society  leaders.
