    Tanga Odoi

    By Simon Wokorach

The NRM Electoral Commission Chairman Dr Tanga Odoi has released the road map for the NRM party primary elections for the newly created Omoro district. Omoro has just been curved out of Gulu.

Speaking by phone to an Acholi Times correspondent yesterday, Dr Tanga Odoi revealed that the  party’s primary election is scheduled for Friday 15th of July 2016.

Dr Odoi said aspirants interested in the woman parliamentary seat in the new district will pay a non-refundable fee of 2 million shilling while those with interest in the district Chairmanship will pay 1.5 million shilling. Aspiring councilors will pay 200,000 shilling.

The timeline for picking nomination forms for aspiring MPS and district Chairpersons began on Tuesday this week at the NRM Secretariat in Kampala and will close on Friday of the same week, according to  the NRM electoral boss. Aspiring councilors will, however, pick their nomination forms from their respective district party offices.

Tanga Odoi cautioned aspirants against using fake papers.  In the aftermath of the recent parliamentary elections, many members of parliament have lost their seats due to either using dodgy academic papers.

The Gulu district NRM Registrar, George Ebola said on Tuesday that so far eight aspirants are eyeing the Omoro woman parliamentary seat. Among them is reported to be Catherine Lamwaka, the former Gulu woman MP parliamentary candidate who lost to Betty Aol.

Ebola told Acholi Times that seven aspirants from the NRM are eyeing the Omoro district Chairmanship.

Recently the Gulu district council passed a 17 billion shilling budget for Omoro District.
