The opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has chosen Prossy Alanyo Owiny as the official flagbearer for Omoro District Woman parliamentary seat.

Alanyo, a clinical officer who works at Lalogi Health Centre IV in Omoro  beat three other candidates in elections held on Saturday at Opit trading centre in Omoro district.

Alanyo was declared winner with 30 votes followed by Sophie Giovana Akera who came second with 11 votes. Alice Latigo and Teddy Amito came third with each getting got 8 votes

Alanyo will face Catherine Lamwaka of the NRM for the Omoro District Woman MP seat.

Wilson Oyat Chagga, FDC’s Gulu district General Secretary said the party was forced to conduct the elections after the aspiring candidates failed to agree on a single candidate.

Meanwhile Patrick Lumumba, Gulu acting District FDC party Chairperson told reporters last week that all party candidates will have to verify their academic documents with the relevant bodies– the Uganda National Examination Board and the National Council of Higher Education.
