Nwoya Police yesterday evening intercepted a vehicle stolen from the South Korean Embassy in Kampala.
The Prado TX vehicle registration number CD20 11U was reportedly stolen from Kampala on Tuesday at around noon.
Nwoya district police commander, Dan Okello said on Wednesday that police intercepted the vehicle as it was heading towards Gulu after being notified by police in neighboring Nebbi district.
“We received a phone call from the District Police Commander of Nebbi that the vehicle was heading towards,’’ Dan Okello said.
The police gave chase to the vehicle for about an hour. The driver of the vehicle attempted to confuse the police by using a feeder road in Lungulu in Alero Sub County but got stuck in mud. By the time the police arrived, the driver of the stolen car had reportedly jumped on a boda-boda (motor cycle taxi) and taken off.
The South Korean embassy vehicle was found to be in good shape and is now packed at Nwoya Central Police awaiting for the owners to pick it.
The recovery of the car brings to 16 the total number of vehicles stolen vehicles recovered in Nwoya since January this year.
