Acholi Khadi Sheikh Musa Khelil has advised Muslim faithful in Acholi and Uganda to use Islam to promote peaceful coexistence and not radicalism.
“We must not misuse our faith for practices of hatred, radicalism and shading sinful blood. We should rather share our religion to promote peace and unity amongst mankind,” said on Monday in an interview with Acholi Times shortly after leading Eid-Al-Adha prayers at Gulu Public Primary School in Gulu town.
According to Sheikh Khelil, radical terrorist groups such as Al-Shabaab in Somalia and Boko Haram in Nigeria and many others around the world are committing atrocities around the globe in the name of Islam.
“Islam is peace and it will remain peace, whoever uses the religion for radical practices is not a Muslim. What they do is evil; it’s against the law of Islam that doesn’t command the taking away of someone’s live.”
He also urged unity among Muslims.
“Why would us Muslims have to pray and have a separate factions, we need to come together under one roof and pray together for the purpose of peace.’’

We as Acoli people have enough problems, Islam talk one thing and their book Quran is capable of radicalizing people. We do not need this religion in Acoli.

Man obedo lok ada. Ikare ma Amin onongo pud tye ki aconya ne ni I Uganda, ping ocako twoo woko wiya pud poo “can mwaka aboro ” padre mo munu I don’t want to name him. Prayed for rain for months in vain. Then an elderly man told him that it will rain if Pajule people prayed to their Jok Lagoro. Then this priest challenged him. Ci laditi ocwallo lok bot lawang Lagoro. Two days after the challenge, lawang Lagoro came back from got Lagoro early in the morning with clear sky and warned the priest that there will be a thunderstorm in the afternoon. The priest laughed and said I will give thanks to Lagoro if Its rains today. But if it doesn’t rain, then he should stop that practice and turn to church. And guess what, it rained that day through out the night.
The same challenge happened between a different priest and the same guy. By the way both priests up to now respect Lagoro though they’re both Italian. Yes we should abolished bad religion that doesn’t preaches unity and Acholi traditional values and lobby our Rwodi to spread the gospel of good practices and leave the evil out. After all Acholi value equals Ten Commandments .
