Police spokesman Jimmy Patrick Okema said the suspected got with the stolen motorcycle in Kampala would be brought to Amuru to help with investigations

Police has recovered a motorcycle of a boda boda motorcycle taxi operator who went missing from Pabbo Trading Centre, in Amuru district in Kampala.

Brian Oola, 18, reportedly disappeared on June 3, this year after he was believed to have been hired by two unknown men from a boda boda stage at Pabbo Trading Center.

Rumour spread that Oola had been killed. But since that day, his family says they have neither got his body nor the motorbike  registration number UAJ 433 Z, which he was riding on that fateful day.

Oola’s disappearance sparked a violent attack against charcoal dealers in the area, majority of whom from central Uganda leading to the killing of two people. This was after information spread that the men who hired Oola were part of charcoal dealers operating in Amuru.

Jimmy Patrick Okema, the Aswa Region Police spokesman told journalists in Gulu  yesterday that Oola’s motorcycle was recovered from one, Robert Mutebi who was attempting to sell it in Kampala.

But the potential buyer of the motorcycle got suspicious after he saw a phone number engraved on the engine of the motorcycle prompting him to call it.

On calling the number, according to Okema, the owner told the -would -be buyer that his motorbike went missing from Amuru. Okema said this led to Mutebi’s arrest.

The police spokesman said Mutebi as of yesterday was being transported to Amuru to aid police with investigations since he was found with a motorcycle whose owner is missing with police yet to ascertain what happened to him(Oola).

Oola’s elder brother, Dacosta Okema claims that on the day his brother disappeared, he was seen with two men believed to be charcoal dealers from central Uganda.

Okema adds that since then the family does not know what happened to Oola or whether he is even alive.

In August this year, Hajj Nadduli, the Minister without portfolio angered, Mary Auma, the mother of Oola, after he (Nadduli) suggested that an 18-year-old man who went missing in June year is well and alive.

An angry Auma tasked Nadduli to tell her where his son is. At the meeting authorities in Amuru said they would leave no stone unturned in investigating what could have happened to Oola.
