    Gulu Market Vendors In Accident

    Over 30 vendors from the Gulu main market were on Saturday involved in a motor accident while travelling back to Gulu town from Opit trading centre in Omoro district.

    The accident happened around 11:20pm at Labora trading centre, Koro Sub County in Omoro district when the Fuso truck in which the vendors were travelling overturned after reportedly hitting a pothole and the driver losing control of the vehicle.

    Injured passengers were rushed to Gulu Regional Referral hospital (GRRH) emergency wing for treatment.

    Some of the passengers sustained deep cuts while others suffered broken limbs.

    Evelyn Akello, one of the injured vendors told Acholi Times that they [vendors] where returning from Opit market where they had gone to sell their merchandise.

    Akello said the accident occurred when their vehicle hit a pothole and the driver lost control.

    No persons died in the accident, according to Akello.

    The Omoro district police commander Denis Kamuchene confirmed the accident in a phone interview with our reporter.

    Kamuchene said police dispatched a vehicle to rescue the injured and take them to the nearest health facility.
