Court bailiffs on Thursday afternoon evicted former Gulu Municipality Member of Parliament Christopher Acire from a commercial building in Gulu town that also housed his radio station– Gulu FM 102.

The radio continues to broadcast from a separate location but only music.

The bailiffs from Gynna Associates evicted Acire following a Wednesday court order by Gulu resident high court judge, Justice Vincent Okwanga.

Employees at the former legislator’s radio station were forced to carry office chairs, tables, radio equipment, trays, carpets and TV sets and load them onto a waiting lorry.

The eviction comes less than a month after ruling in June dismissing Acire’s application to halt his eviction from the house located on market street, just next to the Gulu market in Laroo Division.

In a December 2016 ruling, High Court in Gulu ruled that Acire sold the house to Joseph Oryem Oringa, a Gulu businessmen although Acire refused to vacate the house prompting Oryem Oringa to seek redress in court.

According to documents tabled before court , Mr Acire sold the house to Mr Oringa at Shs200 million in March, 2014 only to deny having sold the house.  The former legislator instead unsuccessfully argued before court that Mr Oryem bought the house from Urib Wunu Mon Microfinance Organisation (UMFO), a village bank and not him[Acire] although he as also a director in the  village bank which has since collapsed.

In the December court ruling, Justice Vincent Okwanga also ordered Acire to pay Mr Oryem a total of 130.5 million shillings in general damages, accumulated rent and special damages.

Until at the point of eviction on Thursday afternoon, Acire, it is understood, had not paid the rent arrears or the cost for special damages.

The eviction was conducted under heavy police commanded by AIP Moses Ogwang, the Community Liaison Officer attached to Gulu Central Police Station.

Acire who did not defend his Gulu municipality seat instead contested for the Aswa county parliamentary seat which he lost to Reagan Okumu.

Politics is truly a dirty game. Now the poor man has lost not only his business, position, but also fame.Imagine working so hard and only to loose all in politics. I feel very sorry for him.

MP Acire deserve it, considering that he did nothing for Gulu Municipality while a legislator. He had no respect for his fellow legislator, a show off, arrogant, good for nothing SOB. Politics is not a dirty game, if you know how it’s played. In politics always be HUMBLE and have RESPECT for everyone including your opponent.

I think his main problem is ignorant. He forgot how he reached the top.Yes politics may not be that bad, but it can trick you into the impossible and dump you there.
