Councilors in Omoro district are demanding that a forensic audit be conducted into the alleged mismanagement of 170.3 Million Shillings meant for Nodding Syndrome.

The fund was released to Omoro district department of health by central government in June last year to support families affected by the unexplained condition and a treatment centre in Odek Sub County.

Councilors are now alleging that the money has been swindled.

Damasco Odongo, the Speaker Omoro district council claims that the fund was abused.

Odongo says some district officials that he did not name each withdrew up to 2 Million Shillings in allowances.

The Secretary for Works and Technical Services, Francisco Watdok Awori, says it is very painful that despite the fund being released, it was not put into better use.

Awori is demanding that external auditors be invited and investigate how the fund was spent.

Emmanuel Oyiko Ocen, the Omoro Deputy Chief Administrative Officer says the matter is already being investigated by Inspectorate General of Government (IGG) and called for patience on the part of the councilors.
