Amuru district has lost another councilor in a fatal road accident.

Tabu Ojok Mugenyi, the male councilor three for Pupwonya parish in Attiak Sub County was knocked dead by a speeding trailer registration number SSD 232M/ZC 8603 on Tuesday night last week at around 9:00 p.m. along the Gulu-Nimule Highway.

The Councilor was riding on a Bajaj motorcycle registration number UEM 928 Z. The lorry was being drive by Abdinajib Shamed, a Kenyan national.

The truck was from South Sudan.

Agnes Linda Auma, the Amuru Resident District Commissioner said in an interview that Mugenyi was negotiating a corner to his home in Pawiro village when the vehicle hit him killing him instantly.

Patrick Jimmy Okema, the Aswa river region police spokesperson said the driver of the truck was detained at Attiak Police Station.

The deceased body was taken to Gulu Main Hospital for a post-mortem test.

This is the second councilor from Attiak Sub County to die in road this year.

In May, Ben Itore Milania, the Councilor III for Pacilo Parish died after ramming into a stationary truck with his motorcycle along Gulu-Nimule highway.
