Unknown armed thugs have shot a private security guard in Amuru district.

Godfrey Mabura, 32, was shot on Tuesday night at around 2:00 a.m. after being attacked by two unknown thugs who raided Stabex International Petrol Station in Amuru Trading Centre.

Mr Mabura was guarding the fuel station.

Agnes Linda Auma, the Amuru Resident District Commissioner (RDC) said in an interview on Wednesday last week that that the private security guard was unarmed while the thugs were armed with rifle.

Auma explained that the guard was shot and injured in the left leg while he tried to physically fight the thugs.

Security on Wednesday morning cordoned off the scene of the crime to take finger prints of the thugs who vanished with an unspecified amount of money.

David Ocira, the Amuru Sub County Chairperson said during an interview that the thugs, according to Mabura, used a Bajaj motorcycle to execute their attack.

Mabura was on Wednesday rushed to St Mary`s Hospital Lacor for treatment.

Patrick Jimmy Okema, the Aswa river region police spokesperson confirmed the incident.
