Dr. Cyprian Opira, the Executive Director of St. Mary’s Hospital Lacor in Gulu is quarantine at the hospital upon return from Italy where he had been recommended for further medical attention.

Josephine Anying, the Communication Officer of the hospital told our reporter that Dr. Opira has not shown any symptoms of Corona Virus which has hit Italy hard, but has been isolated as a mandatory precautionary measure as directed by the Ministry of Health.

Dr Opira returned from Italy on Wednesday last week and was transported from Entebbe International Airport to Gulu in specialised ambulance to Lacor hospital where he has been isolated as he undergoes monitoring for  symptoms of the virus.

“He came back from Italy recently and as a precaution he has been put in self-isolation,’’ Josephine Anying said.  Anying added that Dr Opira will be in isolation for the medically recommended 14 days, the incubation period for  the virus to begin showing symptoms.

William Onyai, the Gulu District Health Educator told our reporter that despite the precautionary measures put in place by the Ministry of Health, Gulu district  lacks disinfectants for use in public places.
