    Agago Lab Technician faces Rape Charges after Sexually Assaulting Patient

    Police in Agago District have preferred rape charges against a Lab Technician who allegedly sexually assaulted his female patient.

    Joel Ogal who works at a private clinic at Kalongo Town Council in Agago District was arrested on Wednesday last week after a 24-year-old patient lodged a complained to police.

    A case of rape has been registered against the suspect at Kalongo Police Station under CRB number 63/2021.

    The woman who cannot be named due to legal reasons told police that she went to the clinic to seek for medical help after developing complications in her private parts only to be raped by the suspect.

    According to the woman, the suspect offered her a bottle of soda and she later became unconscious.

    Police preliminary investigation report indicates that the young woman woke up hours later started to feel pains in her private parts.

    She later reported the matter to police leading to the arrest of the suspect.

    Police suspects that the soda Ogal offered to his patient a bottle of soda laced with sleep- inducing drugs.

    Ogal is also the District Councilor V for Lapono Sub County in Agago District.

    He unsuccessfully run for Lapono Local Council Three Chairperson seat in the 2021 local government elections.

    Patrick Jimmy Okema, the Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson confirmed the reporting adding that the case file has been sent to the Resident State Attorney for perusal before the suspect is arraigned before court and charged.
