The embattled Gulu University Dean of Students Christopher Mwetwale Mpora has been granted bail.
Mpora was arrested on March 31 for alleged theft and uttering a false document.
He was remanded to Prison until April 15, 2021.
It is alleged that on June 15, 2020 at Centenary Bank Branch in Gulu City, Mpora knowingly and fraudulently uttered a false document that he used to withdraw 3,550,000 shillings from Centenary Bank from an account in the names of Goma Oil Ginnery. The money reportedly belonged to Mildred Anena Alou.
Mpora and Anena opened a joint business of a petrol station, Goma Oil Ginnery in Koch Goma Sub, in Nwoya district.
On Thursday, Mpora was granted non-cash bail of 3 Million Shillings by the Gulu Grade One Magistrate Christine Turibamwe.
Turibamwe cautioned Mpora to cease intimidating prosecution witnesses while out on bail and that he should not interfere with the court proceeding at any point.
He is expected to reappear before court on May 20, 2021, for the hearing of the case.
