Residents of Apaa will vote in Amuru and not Adjumani district, the electoral commission has said.
In September, government forcefully demarcated the border boundary between Amuru and Adjumani districts. By the results of the controversial survey, Apaa is in Adjumani district.
But despite that, residents of Apaa will vote in the three polling stations in the area. The three polling stations are Valentino A and B and Apaa health centre polling station.
Olet Sam, the Amuru Registrar said recently that the demarcation of the border between the two districts will not change the location of the polling stations
In September, surveyors protected by the police and army planted markstones on what they said is the border between Amuru and Adjumani district.
Locals protested the demarcation resulting into skirmishes with the security services leaving 21 people injured. Many of those suspected to have been involved in the skirmish have been charged in the court and are only out of detention on police bond.
