    Nwoya District Chairman Retains Seat, Deputy loses

    Patrick Okello Oryema has been re-elected Nwoya district Chairman

    Nwoya district chairman Patrick Okello Oryema has retained his seat with a comfortable lead beating five opponents.

    Jessica Adong Ocen, the Nwoya district returning officer declared Mr Oryema winner early Thursday morning.

    Oryema, an independent got 5,675 votes 39.11%, followed by FDC’s Innocent Komakech with 3,938 votes (27.14%) of the votes.

    George Mwaka George William also an independent came third with 1,935 votes( 13.34%), Ojara Justin fourth with 1,453 10.01%, Akena Geoffrey Joavento fifth with 1,299 votes and Rev. Willy Olango sixth with just 2.24%.

    Meanwhile the Nwoya district vice chairman Tom Ocitti Oryema was defeated in his effort to retain his seat as the directly elected councilor five for Koch Goma. Ocitti lost to Alfred Odong Okot.

    The little known Okot got 685 votes while Ocitti managed 579.

    In Anaka Sub County Geoffrey Ojok retained his seat. Fred Lugaja  Ocitti of Alero was also re-elected.

    Others are Frederick Okecha for Purongo, Opwonypur Ker Pur for Got Apwoyo, Tony Okello for Lii and Denis Odong for Lungulu.

    For the women district councilor five, Kibwoto Betty for Anaka town council/Anaka Sub County, Akidi Grace for Purongo/Got Apwoyo, Betty Atim for Lii, Evelyn Anena Ochan for Koch Goma , Milly Lamaro Otim for Alero and Christine Auma for Lungulu Sub County.

    A total of 46,836 registered for the election in Nwoya in the 101 polling stations in the district.
