The election of Jacob Oulanyah as member of parliament for Omoro county has been challenged in the courts of law by Simon Toolit Akecha, his opponent in the recent parliamentary elections.
At a news conference this afternoon, Mr Toolit said he had filed a case at Gulu high court today through his lawyers Ladislaus Rwakafuzi of Rwakafuzi & Co Advocates.
Oulanyah is the deputy Speaker of parliament and is said to be eyeing the Speaker’s job in the 10th parliament.
Toolit has stated 10 grounds on which he is challenging Oulanyah’s declaration as winner by the electoral commission.
Toolit also denied rumours that has been circulating over the weeks that he had taken a bribe from Oulanyah not to challenge his (Oulanyah’s) declaration as winner.
